Gleap AI agents can use Algolia through Composio, for teams whose product search runs on Algolia and whose users report search problems through Gleap. Kai Code and custom agents can rerun a customer’s search, read the index settings and rules and check search analytics, so the team sees why a result is missing.
What a Gleap agent can do in Algolia
- The search the customer ran: Search Algolia Index repeats the query from a Gleap report against the same index, so the teammate sees the exact results.
- Why a record ranks where it does: Get Object Position and Get Index Settings show where a record appears and which settings shape the ranking.
- Rules and synonyms in play: Get Rule and Get Synonym show the query rules and synonyms that change a result.
- Patterns across users: Get No Results Searches and Get Top Searches show the most frequent searches with no results, useful context for a feature request in Gleap.
- Settings while fixing: with Algolia in Kai Code’s MCP settings, Kai Code can read index settings when a fix touches your search configuration in code.
Example: a product that search cannot find
A customer reports through the Gleap widget that searching for “hdmi adapter” shows no results, although the product exists. A teammate asks the agent on the ticket to check. The agent reruns the search, finds the record by ID and sees that the index does not treat “adapter” and “adaptor” as synonyms and the record uses the British spelling. The teammate decides with the search owner whether to add a synonym.
How to connect Algolia
- In Gleap, open Kai Code, click Settings and open MCP.
- Click Add MCP server, search for “Algolia” and select it.
- Enter your Algolia application ID, an API key and any other details the form asks for, then click Connect Algolia.
- Open the Algolia server and switch off the tools Kai Code should not call, such as Save Rule, Clear Rules, Save Synonyms, Clear Synonyms and the record write actions.
- For a custom agent, add Algolia under the agent’s Tools with Add tool instead, then publish and test it.
Kai Code is on Team, Pro and Enterprise, and Kai Support can use connected apps as tools on the same plans. Custom agents are on the Team, Pro and Enterprise plans.
FAQ
Does Gleap integrate with Algolia?
Yes. Kai Code and custom agents use Algolia through Composio’s Algolia toolkit, authenticated with your Algolia API key. They query or change Algolia only while they run; nothing syncs between Algolia and Gleap.
What can a Gleap AI agent do in Algolia?
It can search indices and facet values, read records, settings, rules, synonyms, dictionaries, logs and analytics, and save or clear rules, synonyms and records. Rule and synonym changes affect every user’s search at once, so keep them with your search owner.
Which Gleap plan includes the Algolia integration?
Kai Code can use Algolia on Team, Pro and Enterprise, and Kai Support can use connected apps as tools in its customer conversations on the same plans. Custom agents that use Algolia are part of the Team, Pro and Enterprise plans. Use a search-only or analytics key where you can, since the key decides what the agents may change. AI usage is billed separately; see pricing.
Can the agent add a synonym for us?
It can with Save Synonym, but a synonym changes results for everyone. Let the agent propose it on the Gleap ticket, and let the person who owns search decide and add it.
