A Gleap custom agent can create notes, data and insights in Dovetail and search your research workspace through Composio. It helps research and product teams that analyze customer feedback in Dovetail while conversations and feature requests arrive in Gleap.
What a Gleap agent can do in Dovetail
- Add conversations as research data: Create Note or Create Data stores a support conversation with its title, the customer’s words and custom fields in a Dovetail project.
- Search past research: Dovetail’s workspace search action finds highlights, notes, insights and themes on a topic before the team answers or prioritizes a request.
- Pull quotes: List Highlights returns highlights across projects, so the agent can cite what other customers said.
- Track participants: Create Contact registers the customer in Dovetail before their conversation is logged.
Example: Research context for a feature request
A customer explains in Gleap why their team needs approval workflows. The product manager asks the agent to log it and check past research. The agent adds the conversation to the Approvals project in Dovetail with Create Note and searches the workspace for approval workflows, which returns three earlier interview highlights. The product manager weighs the request with that context.
How to connect Dovetail
- In Gleap, open AI & Automation > Agents and select a custom agent, or create one.
- In its Tools section, click Add tool and search for “Dovetail”.
- Pick Dovetail under More integrations and click Connect Dovetail.
- Paste your Dovetail API token into the form Gleap shows and connect.
- Open the new Dovetail tool and switch off every action the agent does not need, such as Delete Insight or Delete Note.
- Tell the agent in its instructions when to use Dovetail, then test it in chat.
Custom agents are included in the Team, Pro and Enterprise plans. Kai Support can use connected apps as tools on Team, Pro and Enterprise. Kai Code, also on those plans, can use Dovetail in coding sessions once you add it under Settings > MCP in Kai Code.
FAQ
Does Gleap integrate with Dovetail?
Yes, through Composio. A Gleap custom agent can create and update notes, data, docs, insights and contacts, list projects and highlights and search the workspace. Conversations are added to Dovetail only when an agent run does it.
What can a Gleap AI agent do in Dovetail?
It feeds support conversations into your research repository and brings existing research back into Gleap when a request comes up. Researchers keep ownership of tagging and synthesis.
Which Gleap plan includes the Dovetail integration?
Kai Support and Kai Code can use the Dovetail toolkit on Team, Pro and Enterprise; custom agents that use it are on Team, Pro and Enterprise. Kai Support answers customers, so switch on only actions that are safe in a customer conversation. The Dovetail token you connect decides which projects the agent can write to. AI usage is billed separately; see pricing.
Should every support conversation go to Dovetail?
Usually not. Tell the agent in its instructions which conversations count as research, such as detailed feature requests or churn reasons, so the repository stays focused.
