A Gleap custom agent can send Segment calls through Composio: identify, group, track, page, screen and alias. It is for teams that route customer data through Segment and want support facts, such as a feature request or a reported bug, to reach their other tools.
What a Gleap agent can do in Segment
- Record a support event: Segment Track Event sends an event such as “Feature Requested” with the feature name when a teammate files a request.
- Update traits: Segment Identify sets traits like a support tier on the user, so downstream tools can segment on them.
- Link user and company: Segment Group associates the user with their account and its traits.
- Send several events at once: Batch Segment Analytics Events sends a set of events in one call, for example from a weekly review of tickets.
Example: Trial customers who ask for help
The growth team wants to know which trial accounts ask for help. When a trial customer writes in Gleap, the teammate asks the agent to record it, and the agent sends a Segment track event with the topic and the account ID. The event reaches the team’s analytics and CRM through their existing Segment destinations. The growth team decides what to do with the signal.
How to connect Segment
- In Gleap, open AI & Automation > Agents and select a custom agent, or create one.
- In its Tools section, click Add tool and search for “Segment”.
- Pick Segment under More integrations and click Connect Segment.
- Enter the Segment credentials Gleap asks for and connect.
- Open the new Segment tool and switch off every action the agent does not need, such as Delete Source or Remove Source Write Key.
- Tell the agent in its instructions when to use Segment, then test it in chat.
Custom agents are included in the Team, Pro and Enterprise plans. Kai Support can use connected apps as tools on Team, Pro and Enterprise. Kai Code, also on those plans, can use Segment in coding sessions once you add it under Settings > MCP in Kai Code.
FAQ
Does Gleap integrate with Segment?
Yes, through Composio. A Gleap custom agent can send identify, track, group, page, screen and alias calls and manage some source settings. It is an agent tool, not a Segment destination: calls go out only when the agent runs.
What can a Gleap AI agent do in Segment?
It turns moments from support conversations into Segment events and traits, so tools behind Segment see who asked for what. It can also read delivery metrics for a destination when you debug a pipeline.
Which Gleap plan includes the Segment integration?
Kai Support and Kai Code can use the Segment toolkit on Team, Pro and Enterprise; custom agents that use it are on Team, Pro and Enterprise. Kai Support answers customers, so switch on only actions that are safe in a customer conversation. Agree on event names with your data team before the agent sends anything. AI usage is billed separately; see pricing.
Does Gleap stream all its data to Segment?
No. Gleap does not forward its data to Segment through this connection. The agent sends only the calls your instructions describe, when it runs.
