A Gleap custom agent can look up ShipEngine shipments and tracking and work with addresses through Composio. It helps online stores and logistics teams that ship through ShipEngine and handle delivery questions in Gleap.
What a Gleap agent can do in ShipEngine
- Find the shipment by your order number: Get Shipment by External ID looks the shipment up with the ID your store assigned.
- Track the package: Get Tracking Information returns the status and location for a tracking number, and Track LTL Shipment covers freight.
- Turn chat text into an address: Parse Address converts an address a customer typed in a message into structured fields.
- Check the address: Validate Address normalizes the parsed address and flags problems before anyone changes the shipment.
Example: A customer moved before delivery
A customer writes in Gleap that they moved and pastes their new address into the chat. The teammate asks the agent to check the order. The agent finds the shipment by order number, sees that it has not shipped yet and runs Parse Address and Validate Address on the new address. The teammate updates the shipment and confirms the new address with the customer.
How to connect ShipEngine
- In Gleap, open AI & Automation > Agents and select a custom agent, or create one.
- In its Tools section, click Add tool and search for “ShipEngine”.
- Pick ShipEngine under More integrations and click Connect ShipEngine.
- Paste your ShipEngine API key into the form Gleap shows and connect.
- Open the new ShipEngine tool and switch off every action the agent does not need, such as Cancel Shipment or Disconnect Carrier.
- Tell the agent in its instructions when to use ShipEngine, then test it in chat.
Custom agents are included in the Team, Pro and Enterprise plans. Kai Support can use connected apps as tools on Team, Pro and Enterprise. Kai Code, also on those plans, can use ShipEngine in coding sessions once you add it under Settings > MCP in Kai Code.
FAQ
Does Gleap integrate with ShipEngine?
Yes, through Composio. A Gleap custom agent can read shipments, labels, rates, batches and tracking, parse and validate addresses and manage tags, packages and warehouses. ShipEngine is used only during an agent run.
What can a Gleap AI agent do in ShipEngine?
It answers delivery questions with shipment and tracking data and prepares address corrections from customer messages. Label purchases and cancellations stay with your team.
Which Gleap plan includes the ShipEngine integration?
Kai Support and Kai Code can use the ShipEngine toolkit on Team, Pro and Enterprise; custom agents that use it are on Team, Pro and Enterprise. Kai Support answers customers, so switch on only actions that are safe in a customer conversation. Use the API key of the ShipEngine account your store ships with. AI usage is billed separately; see pricing.
Can the agent cancel a shipment?
Cancel Shipment exists and only works before the package is in transit. Treat it as a decision for your team: leave it off, or have the agent ask with an Ask for a decision card first.
