Gleap AI agents can work in respond.io through Composio, for teams that talk to customers on WhatsApp and other messaging channels in respond.io and handle in-app support and bug reports in Gleap. A custom agent can leave internal comments on respond.io conversations, create contacts and maintain tags, so the messaging team knows what happened in Gleap.
What a Gleap agent can do in respond.io
- Internal comments for the messaging team: Add internal comment to conversation posts a note on the customer’s respond.io conversation, for example that they filed a bug report in Gleap.
- Contacts from Gleap tickets: Create Contact adds a person from a Gleap ticket to respond.io by email or phone number when your team wants to reach them there.
- One tag per known issue: Create Space Tag and Update Space Tag keep a workspace tag for a bug engineering is working on, so conversations about it are easy to find.
- Channels and people: List channels and List users show which messaging channels and teammates exist, so the agent can name the right owner in its summary.
Example: a crash reported by a WhatsApp customer
A customer who usually messages your team on WhatsApp through respond.io reports a crash in your mobile app through the Gleap SDK. A teammate asks the agent on the Gleap ticket to brief the messaging team. The agent adds an internal comment to the customer’s respond.io conversation with the device, OS and steps from the Gleap report. The messaging teammate decides how and when to follow up on WhatsApp.
How to connect respond.io
- In Gleap, open AI & Automation, then Agents, and select the custom agent that should use respond.io, or click Create agent.
- Under Tools, click Add tool, search for “respond.io” and select it.
- Enter your respond.io API key and any other details the form asks for, then click Connect Respond.io.
- Open the respond.io tool and switch off every action the agent should not use, such as Create Contact if contacts should only come from your own systems.
- Publish the agent and test it in chat before you turn on a trigger.
Custom agents are on the Team, Pro and Enterprise plans. Kai Support can use connected apps as tools on Team, Pro and Enterprise.
FAQ
Does Gleap integrate with respond.io?
Yes. Gleap AI agents use respond.io through Composio’s respond.io toolkit, which connects with an API key. The agent calls respond.io while it runs; there is no background sync of contacts or conversations.
What can a Gleap AI agent do in respond.io?
It can add internal comments to a contact’s conversation, create contacts, create and update workspace tags, read a specific message and list channels and users. The toolkit has no action that sends a message to a customer, so outreach stays with your messaging team.
Which Gleap plan includes the respond.io integration?
Custom agents that use respond.io are part of the Team, Pro and Enterprise plans, and Kai Support can use connected apps as tools in its customer conversations on Team, Pro and Enterprise. The respond.io workspace behind the API key sets the scope. AI usage is billed separately; see pricing.
Does Gleap also support WhatsApp directly?
Yes, separately from Composio. Gleap connects WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Slack and Telegram as support channels on Team, Pro and Enterprise, so conversations land in the Gleap inbox. Teams that keep WhatsApp in respond.io can use the toolkit to connect the two instead. See WhatsApp support in Gleap.
